Asm G-3 Skimmer Help

I have an ASM G-3. I have had it in my sump for several months. It seems that it doesn't skim very good. I only get about a half of cup worth of waste in four weeks. If I adjust the bubble level any higher it just starts to dump water in the collection cup. It has been this way from day one. Could it be that I use a filter sock on the drain line running into the sump? Any suggestions? I did not modify the pump at all.

you need to adjust it, if you are overflowing into the cup it's too high, lower the standpipe a bit.

It seems there is no happy medium when adjusting the standpipe. If I lower it any more, nothing will collect in the cup and if I raise it, the cup just seems to fill with water. Is the filter sock trapping alot of the debris that would normally be skimmed?

what is your tank size/bioload, feeding... i found that when i was not feeding much i was not skimming much. i have a g3 and it pulls out gunk... maybe not the best but it def. pulls out a lot more then what you say are getting.

Have the same skimmer. Works real well. If you haven't already. I would suggest doing the gate valve mod. Helps fine tune the skimmer.

I haven't done the gate valve mod. It is a 90g, with six fish. Two False percs, to dart fish, Sailfin tang and FoxFace.
