cycling questions

im cycling with raw shrimp. how many should i use with a 117 gallon tank?

also when should i turn on the skimmer? after cycle or during?

I'd toss in either a small one or 1/2 of a larger. Or just sprinkle food in daily as if you have a couple fish. I'd go ahead and run the skimmer which could help if your rock is clearing out some dead stuff. If you start getting any decent skimmate, you could probably ignore the feeding.

i dont have any live fish in the tank since its new.
i have only one large shrimp - raw with heater and water flowing

does the skimmer pull out the stuff i need for my tank to cycle?
