5ftx2ftx2ft Stock List - Overstocked?
Hi All,
Have started a 5ftx2ftx2ft and am just wondering purely from a bio-load and stocking point of view if the tank would be overpopulated. I have only got about 5 of the fish that the moment but just wanting to get a general idea as to when I am nearing the limit. This is also the proposed order I was considering introducing the critters. I currently have 190lbs of live rock, 6" of DSB, a sump with a refugium. Thanks BLENNIES 1 x Jewelled Rockskipper \ Lawnmower Blenny (Salarias fasciatus) - 13cm CLOWNFISH 2 x Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) - 9cm 2 x Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris var) - 9cm COWFISH 1 x Longhorn Cowfish (Lactoria cornuta) - 46cm ANGELFISH 1 x Flame Angelfish (Centropyge loricula) - 10cm 1 x Regal Angelfish (Pygoplites diacanthus) - 25cm 1 x Emperor Angelfish (Pomacanthus imperator) - 38cm GOBIES 2 x Green Clown Goby (Gobiodon atrangulatus) - (Add later after tank is established) 3.5 x2 2 x Yellow Clown Goby (Gobiodon okinawae) - (Add later after tank is established) 3.5 x 2 DRAGONETS (Add later after tank is established) 2 x Male/Female Pair of Green Mandarinfish (Pterosynchiropus splendidus, Synchiropus splendidus) - Need lots of fauna ie. Copepods to eat. - 8cm x 2 WRASSE 1 x Harlequin Tuskfish (Choerodon fasciatus) - 25cm TRIGGERFISHES 1 x Niger Triggerfish (Odonus niger) - 50cm EEL 1 x Ribbon Eel (Rhinomuraena Quaestia) - May eat Clown Goby's. - 1.2m |

Your trigger and your wrasse will eat all snails and crabs in your clean up crew probably. LiveAquaria also says that triggers are not compatible with dragonettes.
If your cowfish gets really stressed it can release toxins that will wipe out your tank. The eel will also take out any of the smaller fish (blennies, gobies, and mandarins) |

Just wanting to focus on the bioload vs stocking levels rather than compatibility etc.

I've been told 10 fish for my 75 gal. I think if they are larger adult fish it should be less. My tank is overstocked right now.

I think 10 is too many for a 75g, depending on the fish. Some of the fish on this list get very large.
I'd start by picking the one or two fish that I wanted the most, and working from there. Many of those fish are not reef-safe, if that's an issue.

Sorry but were talking about a 150 gal tank not at 75 gal. So am I to assume the list is ok or overpopulated with 16 listed?

It's overpopulated, in my opinion. Some of those fish get very big.

IMO you have too many big fish on the list. Although an empty 150g may look big, when you add large animals you see that its not so big after all.
I would leave the regal and emperor angel, the trigger and the eel. Leave the Cowfish until you have more experience. You don't want that going wrong in your tank. You can always add the above mentioned fish when you get your 450g
