All i can say is, I have have a superskimmer 120 on my 75gallons and it works very well. And i dont hear any bad reviews about it. Inexpensive and very efficiant.

Dido the Superskimmer. For the price you can't go wrong. But if price isn't an issue I'm sure there's something better that someone will recommend.

remora is nice but the spray injection style of skimming creates noise. i havent had any skimmer besides an AquaC urchin so i dunno how much noise the other types of skimmers make.

My remora is very quiet. My tank is right next to my bed and I can barely hear it. Also it seems to perform very well, although the only other skimmer that I've owned is a seaclone so that's not a very good comparison.

Go check out this thread

and post your question you will get more information. Its pretty hard to pick a hob since everyones got their own opinions and experience with hobs. It all comes down how much you want to spend and do you want a small compact one or a large one? Or if you want one where you wont have to change it when you ugprade. well anyways I own a 45gallon and have a octopus bh100f and its pulling gunk out. I'd recommend the octopus hobs if your not willing to spend alot and want something small and effective.
octos go for 100~150 depending on model pretty good proformance for the price
Checkout www.thereefstop.com they sell them the cheapest.
But seeing price isnt a problem than the two top skimmers I would recommend are
Bermuda rogue $300~
Deltec mce600 $500~600

What are you planning to put in the tank? Fish only? Softies? SPS? That'll make big difference on how good a skimmer you need.

My BacPac 2 works fine on my 50 long softie tank. It's a bit noisy, but once I got the hang of it was easy to adjust and after the first couple months stabilized out nicely.

SAPseven get the Aqua C Remora PRO with out any QUESTIONS. Trust me. It is quiet and it hasn't even fully broken in yet. I just got it a week ago for my reef/fish 55 gallon, after long long research. I went from an odyssea ps 75 that work ok for la ow level stock tank. As soon as I hook this PS up and turn it on. It immediately started producing lots of skim mate. NITRATES are coming down very quickly. I can't believe that was my problem all along.

$232.00 with the drain plug option and RIO 1400 pump.

Without question, I would highly recommend against a Remora including the Pro. They are very poor skimmers.

I had a Remora and it broke in 3 weeks. Its a junk skimmer.

Go with the Deltec MCE600. It's a bit expensive, but definitely worth the price if you're serious about your tank.

The Remoras are terrible. Spend some time in the equipment forum and read up. I had a Pro. It was a joke, didn't pull out a thing. I replaced it with an ASM G2 (a mediocre skimmer) and it easily pulled out more in a day than the Remora did in a week. Many many people have the same experience once they actually try a good skimmer.

That TOTM is beautiful. It shows what you can do with the right experience, good husbandry. The owner obviously knows what he is doing. Regardless, the Remora is still a poor skimmer. I'm sure there are many tanks with Remoras that are not TOTM material, just like any other piece of equipment. Unfortunately, in the HOB models, there is not much available.

Masonicman - you got ripped off. SAPseven, don't trust him. He couldn't have done that much research if he's suggesting the Remora. He's telling you about noise, but what about performance. You can look at his current tank description and tell right away why his Nitrates were high.

Go with the Deltec MCE600
