DSB in fuge question

I currently have a 2.5 inch sand bed in my fuge with chaeto i want to tuen it into a DSB can i just pur a few more inches of sand on top of the existing or shoul di mix it in ot add alittle at a time?

If it has not been there long I would say yes. If its established sand putting more sand on top would probably cause some die off and a tank cycle. I would not mix it in

You could add a little at a time, maybe 1/4" inch per shot, and add more sand once a week. I'm not sure a DSB is going to help much, but it probably won't hurt.

Yes, it is important not to dump the new sand on top; add a little at a time or you may kill aerobic bacteria living on the top of the sand bed.

I didn't know bacteria worked out? 2 1/2" in the fuge is a good amount, should work just fine. Add another piece of rock instead.
