I think I know what you are talking about, Its like a grey cylinder that hooks up to your faucet? I was considering that as well but found about marc's (www. melevs reef . com) where he sells an Ro/DI unit that is the best you will ever find! You can even use it for drinking water for other pets and family members.
(Hope it didnt seem too much like a commercial)

yeah it's pretty much a waste of money. i used one for a while, buying a good quality RODI unit was the best investment i ever made.

The Marc Melev RODI system (http://www.melevsreef.com/ro_di.html) is relatively inexpensive and provides great water quality but it makes only 5 gallons per hour.
I use the following "Kold Ster-il" filtration system: http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_Aquari...n_kold_ster-il. It can be used on demand like a water tap. There are reviews of it on the review section of Reef Central. I don't think that it produces water as pure as that from an RODI system but it is convenient to use. |

for 150 bucks i bougt mine from air water ice, it comes with a float valve. i hooked it up to a rubbermaid container and now i have 10 gallons of rodi water made all the time. just about everyone here will probably agree that it's a worthwile investment, and in the long run will be much heaper thana cheap filter and give you better quality water. The AP tap water filters only give you good quality water for less than 100 gallons, if that depending on you tap water.

The Tap Water Filter is a waste of money. It may only last 20 gallons in some cases and I have never heard of one lasting more than about 35 gallons. Replacement cartridges are expensive and it will soon eat your lunch.
Stick with a good quality RO/DI system. The Kold Steril system has its uses but it is by no means a substitute for a RO/DI unit. www.buckeyefieldsupply.com www.spectrapure.com www.thefilterguys.biz www.melevsreef.com www.airwaterice.com www.purelyh2o.com All are Reef Central Sponsors and know what it takes to keep a reef. |
