MH bulb question

I have a 400w industrial ballast/pendant that I would like to use over a prop/frag tank. The mogul is mounted vertically at the bottom of the ballast.

My question is: Does this type of lamp NEED to be mounted horizontally or can I get away with using it as is?

I don't know much about this, but the Iwasaki 175watt bulb I just received said it needs to be mounted horizontal +/-15 degress. Of course it had some other safety "requirements" that are routinely ignored by myself and most others too. Good luck.
