Tunze powerhead vs Wavebox for flow..
I am still working on my 150gal tank.
I will have about 900gph return line on a sea swirl. I was planning on 2 #4 koralia for flow - but I am having problems with them. I was thinking of 2 NanoStream Pump 6055 that I can run on my controller. Or for about the same money, I can get a tunze wavebox. This will be a mostly LPS tank. The tank is tall, not long. Any suggestions on pumps vs wavebox? |

You said in another thread that you had a problem with one Koralia 4, did you get this problem fixed? I know you just said you email Hydor about the second problem, going to let them fix this problem? I know with LPS you have to be careful with the amount of flow you give them, trust me I have a lot of ticked off LPS right now, trying to adjust the flow from 3 Koralia 3's.

I have a wavebox and two #4 koralias for circulation. The wavebox generates an ideal "sway" for my LPS and clams, while the powerheads provide a current for the fish to ride.
Tunze makes the best, If you have the dough.....you'll get what you pay for and your corals will love ya'! ![]() Last edited by T Man; 12/18/2007 at 08:12 PM. |

I was thinking the wavebox would replace the power heads.
Would I still need a powerhead if I have a wavebox? |

Maybe that would depend on the size of the tank???

from everything i can see and i might be missing something with this system, only looked for abt 30 minutes on the internet, these would be GREAT for a SPS tank or a fish only, even tho it might be over kill there, but i know that my LPS like the low to mid level flow and this would be over the top for them

You still need powerheads even if you have a wavebox. The wavebox will keep detritus suspended, but you still need flow to get the solids into your overflow down to the the skimmer.
I would suggest 2x6101's and the wavebox or just get the 6101's if money is an issue. You can add the wavebox later. |

I used to before I sold my 125. I'm thinking of adding one and an extension to my cube.

So a wavebox and some powerheads for flow would be ok for LPS?
My 120 currently has 2 #4 koralia's and could probably use a bit more flow... My 150 I was thinking a wavebox and one nanostream (the large one) And I have the 900gph return flow |

I think you would be better off with two 6101's and the multicontroller.

Why the 6101 vs the nanostream??
The nanostream can run on a controller also |

Another suggestion would be the wavebox and 4-6 of the mj mods or modded 6025 nano streams.

Here ya go, No wavebox needed just 2 6100's controlled by my profilux aquarium controller. You gan get the light2 profilux for the same price as the tunze multicontroller and controll 4 tunze's and lights, monitor temp ect.
Check out ghl's forum here for more details. ![]()

Mostly acans for lps. I have about 10 small colony's at the moment, A little more than i had there. They like the flow, They are getting a decent amt of flow, Not like the top of the tank, But more than they had previously. The flow is a cross of a wavebox and a stream, You still get that flow you would not get with a wavebox. Heres a link to the light 2, I own the profilux plus II
