I grow a lot in my display. I like it, it doesn't grow fast and take over the tank. Easy to prune. It does seem to suck up a whole lot of calcium though. Once it was established, I had to increase my Ca+ supplementation more than I expected. Its hard to pin that completely on the Halimeda, however, as I also keep LPS and have a good amount of coraline algae, all of which is doing well in my little tank.
Edit: I don't think I would use it in a fuge for nutrient uptake. There are better options. |

I've been wanting to rip it out cos my smooth leaf kelp is starting to become enveloped in it, I prune it back but never totally got rid of it cos me and my fellow reefers around my area feel the more bio diversity the better, but if it isn’t benefiting my tank at all I’d rather just toss it, i also have a huge ball of chaeto in my 55 gal fuge and more in my 30 gal fuge
