Run it stock, see how it does before you try and mod it. If you need to mod it, shoot me a pm and maybe i can stop by and show you. ; )

Sounds good, I saw how the venturi looked and was very confused at how you would mod it.

Anyway, what got me excited about theses skimmer is the marinesolutions site, that skimmer looks to be like my bubblemaster which is by far the best piece of equipment I have ever owned, and I have owned a lot of equipment!!!

Anyways, I needed a skimmer today, and couldn't wait so we'll see, I may have to buy a sicci pump!!

The sicce would be to much air for that little neck and restricted bubble plate. It would just blow the top right off! lol. The 20-25scfh it'll pull will work perfect for that neck. The SWC extreme's look better in design then the ati's imo. Can't stand that long bubble plate!

Maybe, but I can tell you it is a bad boy as far as skimming goes.

I am actually building a new sump to lower my water level to 6 inches for it, I hear it rips in the lower water level??? Right now I have it in 8.5 inches of water, as low as it can get in my current sumps skimmer compartment.

Without doubt, the ati's are excellent. Not debating that. The extended bubble plate is just kinda silly to me as the turbulence isn't an issue. Thats kinda my whole dilemma with the new coralvue octo's. The neck and body is the same size and they use the same pump.....but ooooh, now they have a bubble plate to kill the turbulence..hmm, was turbulence a problem? NO, the venturi and elbo, that was the problem. Now, same pump BUT different elbo which is great. I could go on and on, but i'd rather get some sleep. Blank, i'd like to see your setup sometime, and would be happy to mod the octo with you. JLMK

Why dont you make a simple pvc stand and raise the skimmer up? seems a bit easier...unless you have other reasons for building the sump.
