Sump questions

Hi all. I bought a 30 gallon tank to make into a sump. I have a friend that works at a glass manufacturing company that can cut some baffles for me. I was wondering about any tips as far as measuring, placement, etc. I want the first stage to be the intake from the overflow and also for the protein skimmer. The next section, separated by a baffle will be the refugium, then the three panes for the bubble trap, and finally the return pump. I have been using a 20 gallon so far without any baffles just as a place for equipment and to increase water volume. Also, for the refugium do you recomend I use a plenum for the deep sand bed?

I have a 30 gal sump for my 75. Have it set up similar to what you are thinking, but I put 3 baffles b/t the skimmer section and the fuge -- more bubbles there. I have one baffle b/t the fuge and the return section -- have slots cut into it.

Here is an older pictures of it -- right when I was hooking it up.

Another one about 4 months after that one. (( made it about 4 years ago, still working great ))

More ( close ups ) of it can be seen here is you want.

I have my sump/fuge bare bottom, It makes it easier to clean, and increase waterflow for the chaeto I have.

Here is a pic of mine.
