plumbing help
just wanted to ask a few questions.
i have got 3 holes drilled in the bottom of my tank.... 1- wier drain ( to sump ) 2- CL outlet 3- CL return i have 1"(25mm) bulkheads on each. with 1" ball valves on each. will ball valves completley cut off the water flow. or do i need to add gate valves ( or sumthing similar ) to prevent any water getting through AT ALL. i cant find any PVC gate valves that are any good ( or below £40 a piece ) could i use brass fittings ?? ad |

No brass that is a definite no no. Ball valves will shut off fine till they eventually get crusted up with calcium. Gate valves restrict a bit more then ball valves. I use ball valves, they just need to be worked a bit every once in a while.
