Electrical Question
On this forum, I see a lot of photos of stands where the electrical work is stuffed right in with all the plumbing - you'll see power centers attatched to the inside of the stand, inches away from open sumps. Now it would be nice to put everything away neatly in one place, but isn't this dangerous? Or is it alright to have electrical connections in 100% humidity?
I personally have my connections in the stand, but they are inside plastic bags, and the bags open outside the cabinet. Messy, but at least safer, I hope. |

I agree with you, Al. I think all electrical connections should be above the water. If there's a leak, the breaker trips, your tank may go blewie -- no flow, no go. A fellow MASLAC member had a fire -- DISASTER. Lost almost everything. Fortunately his home was okay. Tank was gone.
Prudence and Care should be taken when placing electrical connections near water. It just common sense!

GFI's trip too much in my opinion, the the tank is 4-5 in off the wall then just strap cords to the wall to keep plugs out from under the stand....and yes common sense is the most important thing lol.
