Coralife Super Skimmer-Needle Wheel???
Have any one tryed one of these Skimmers and are they any good or worth the money? Have a 55gal w/ 10 gal sump.
Coralife Super Skimmer-Needle Wheel-125 Gallon Any advise would be greatly appreciated as the Sea clown cant keep up with the load of my tank. Not wanting to spend too much if possable would like to keep it under $150. Thanks |

I have one of the 65g models. It actually works really well. It takes a little adjustment, but once its equalized its fine. I bought it for in sump applications, but it doesnt do well with varying water level, so I put it on the display tank where the level is always the same. Now I rarely have to adjust it. only when I clean it. If you have auto top off on your sump then it would be fine.

I would go with the aqua-c remora if your willing to spend 150. It blows my coralife out of the water, and it never needs adjustment. Its rated for 75g but its probably better than the coralife 125 or you can get the remora pro w/mag3 for about 100 more

I modded mine with a sedra 3500 pump with a ER valve venturi thingy and it works pretty well. You just need to adjust the hell out of it at first but once its tweaked it performs good. I picked up some info here- http://www.tylermerrick.com/content/css_notes.php
I'm rerouting my plumbing to an external skimmer so if you interested i'll sell you mine. cheap! |
