Spunk in Sump

Cleaned my sump yesterday. I use a filter sock so there was virtually no detritus or particulate matter the had accumulated. However, there was the little sponge looking chunks stuck to the walls. This stuff is a light color, like a yellowish beige and is slimy ... spunk.

Anyway, no big deal, I have always gotten this stuff build up over time and routinely cleaned it out. But I am wondering what it actually is. My guess is some type of very low light algae but im probably wrong. Anyone else get this stuff in their sump after a while ... and what is it ?

Thanks
