I've only had him for a few days. It's a good sized midas though...

I bought a small lawnmower 4 months ago and he has not been seen since - fairly sure he's already fish (hermit crab) food.

Don't give up hope on him. My friend has had a watchman goby disappear and hasn't seen him, but he says something keeps stirring around his sand.

Also, one of the owners of an LFS I go to had a 200 gallon system, where he couldn't find his LMB. When he was moving the system 3 years later, he looked under a rock to find a big, fat LMB about 6" long.
