Do Clams Spawn?

I've got a crocea clam that is spewing out this milky white substance. Is he spawning, or is he doing something else.

this has never happened to me, but from what I've read, it is spawning probably due to strees. I also read you should do an immediate water change....

According to James Fatheree ( Giant Clams in the Sea and the Aquarium) A spawning event sounds cool but He assures that it can potentially lead to serious trouble if you don't take immediate action, If not cleaned up can lead to the death of everything in the tank!

If it happens in your aquarium, the first thing to do is remove a spawning clam if at all possible.Place in container where it can release gametes without fouling the tank.
Even try to siphon the gametes directly out. If you have more than one clam this may trigger it to spawn also. Be ready for a large ammonia spike.
