How much flow through a 72g?
Hello,
Just wondering how much flow is too much flow inside the tank? I just bought a tunze 6060 and that's rated at 1500 gal/h and I feel like it's blowing too hard and there isn't any fish in there yet, but will it be too much? Was curious if I should just get something not as strong or even another tunze with a controller. Thanks in advance. |

That depends on the animals that you want to keep, but anywhere from 10x to 30x the tank's volume per hour is a good starting point. So 750 to 2200 gph total, or so.

Direct the flow in conjunction with your aquascaping to achieve turbulent not laminar (uni directional) flow for corals that require high flow such as sps and create protected areas with low to moderate flow for those that have these requirements.
