diatoms, have you been running your lights?
If so, turn them off for a few days, and the diatoms will disappear. Then gradually get into the lighting regime that you want. Should get a bit of clean-up crew in there to help you out as well. I am experiencing the same thing, but i found that all over my rocks last week and found out my lights were on too soon, and i had them on way too long in the beginning. Another reason could be the type of water you are using and if there are any extra nutrients in the water. I would consider RO/DI if you are using tap water. IMO.

I concur with everyone. They are diatoms and very very common in a new tank set up. Most of the tanks will go thru this and there is nothig to worry about.

Keeping the lights off for 3 days should do the trick. Very easy to do now, before you have corals to worry about.
