Back flush for RO unit

I was told that all I needed to do to make my own "back flush system" was to create a bypass around the flow restrictor of the ro unit and I would basically have a inexpensive means of lengthening the life of the membrane.

Total parts would be 2 T's and 1 valve for about $12 total. Anyone doing this? How much extended life do you typically get? Do you run the bypass few a couple minutes every week or two?

Thanks,
Greg

I answed in one of your other threads. There really is no need to cross post as your questions will be seen and answered if the title is descriptive enough.
