Need Help Fast!!!!!!!!

Hey guys need help fast. I have powerheads lodged behind my liverock and noticed my mappa puffer was blown up!!! He got his eye sucked into the intake!!!!!! ****ed and worried. You can see the red ring around his eye and his eye looks a bit cloudy and some hemmorage around it, but otherwise is swimming around the tank as if nothing happened, except for the evil look he's giving me. The hemmorage is gone now. There seemed to be a bit of excretion coming from his body as he deflated, should I do a carbon change? What should I do for the Mappa, besides turn those damn powerheads off? Please give me any suggestions!!! Don't want to lose this guy or have him suffer any more that he has. Of course I'm having problems uploading the photos. But his one eye is definately swollen. Thanks. Regards, Tim

I'd make sure to keep an eye one him (no pun intended) and soak all of his food in garlic to help his immune system cope with the injury. I can't think of anything else right now.

I think that if he'll eat, that's a good sign.

Good luck.

Try to keep him eating. Maybe buy him a nice clam from the supermarket for him to chomp on. There is really nothing else you can do. By running carbon (changing water parameters) you may just stress him out. Good luck!

not positive this will work and cant garuntee ANYTHING but am just throwing this out there. I just dosed e.m. erythromycin a couple days ago in my 75. On the box it says its an anti- bacterial fish medication for treatment of infections. (open red sores, fin and tail rot, mouth fungus, gill disease, hemorrhagic septicemia) Maybe you could give this a try. Didnt make my corals look too hot afterwards though. (it comes in packets, it says how many to use on the box)

Just throwin this out there. Might not be a big help, but an idea...Good luck..

Well the swelling has gone down already and is acting fine and eating like nothing happened. All my fishes food are soaked in garlic and selcon all the time regardless of fishes health. Thanks for that tip. I've seen some amazing recovery of ill fish by using these two items. I don't want to add any medications, especially metal based ones to food items for the puffer because they don't take well to them. My only concern he's secreting a slim off of his body and worried about toxins. I just added a bag of high quality carbon which I generally don't run in my tank for reasons that aren't important right now. Any suggestions on how I should proceed. Looks like Tunzes or Koralias are in my near future. Thanks, Tim

Looks like the intake caught him perfectly around his eye and luluckily not onto it. The hemmorageing is gone from what I can see. Any other suggestions. THANK YOU ALL FOR SUCH QUICK RESPONSES!!!!!!! Have to love the care that people have in this forum. If all fishkeepers were like this maybe we wouldn't be blamed for ruining our reefs, i.e. hawaii right now. Thanks, Tim
