Cleaning filter socks?

What is the best way to clean filter socks before placing them back into the sump? Any help would be appreciated!

Wash in the washing machine with a little bit of bleach...double rinse...air dry.

I pick all of the live pods out, throw them back in the tank.
Next, I hand wash with plain water in the sink.
Last, I rinse with RO/DI water and stick it back on the sump.
