P.S. - This could be the cause of your sally lightfoot problem from previous post.

Yes, definitely do a large water change.

What are your other levels like and exactly how high are your nitrates?

What type of filters, water are you using and do you have a skimmer?

The hang on filters may be some of the blame for the nitrates. Do you have bio filtration with them? Like a bio-wheel or bio balls? They're nitrate factories. I had a problem with my biocube until I removed the bioballs from mine.

How high are your nitrates now and how long has the tank been running?

what size is your tank? how often do you feed? and you can also run nitrate sponge if it's high and really effecting things.. also you can run carbon to help. water changes are the best in large amounts at once

Make sure you rinse the cart's off. The stuff that collects on them will cause that problem.

You said 15 lbs of live rock. How big is the tank and is it a reef or fowlr tank?

Typically, you could run a good skimmer, power heads for flow and ditch the filters. You can also add a nitrate filter sponge and run carbon.

But, you still haven't said how high the nitrates were. What did it test at?

Haha! Go Hawks? I like Kane and Toews. They'll be good to build around. Are you thanking God yet for the unfortunate events that allowed a change of ownership?
