Dont have any of a 40 but this is what i did with my 30 (i dont really like it but here you go)
The ugly pvc was covered up with coraline in a few weeks and i trimmed the zip ties... |

i could take pictures of my 73 if you want its used as a wall so the aquascaping is basically a big pile with caves...lots of em
