detritus algae
I just went to my LFS and they tested my water for me and my phosphates were zero. For the past few weeks I have been battling red slime algae, green hair algae and what I thought was diatoms since it repeatedly came back on my rocks right after I took it off. Today after testing my tank water to see that everything is fine the guy said it was detritus algae, just from the rocks and should go away with a good clean up crew and water changes within a few weeks. I have been told that sea urchins are quite clumsy in a reef tank knocking things over and eating corals. True or no? I've recently been told that sea hares are great for hair algae and more. I just bought 15 margarita snails today and 3 emerald crabs. Anything else I should get? slug, sea hare, urchin, more snails, crabs, hermit crabs???
Appreciate it... ( ill post pics tomorrow) tank lights just went out...

tank has been running for about 10 months no problems, but about 2 months ago I decided to take out the crushed coral in place for 40 lbs of non live sand and 20 lbs of live sand. I also added 20 lbs of live rock to the tank to make it 100 lbs. I've spoken to a lot of people about this and I took my water to the store to be tested and I had zero phosphates. They said if my phosphates are zero then it cant be diatoms or anything like that, but its just detritus algae, which I'm not even sure what detritus algae is. Apparently with a good clean up crew it will be gone in a few weeks. Thats why im curious of what type of invertebrates I should get to speed up the process. ( lots of corals in the tank, thats why I'm not so sure about a sea urchin.
