Bubble tip

Hello there. I just purchased a bubble tip an today. It came attached to a large chunk of rock. My question is how should I place it? Does it need to be able to lay flat on the bottom or can I stand it up so it is about 2inc off the bottom?

They tend to like rockwork with a lot of crevices so I would think off the bottom would be fine. If it doesnt like where you put it, it will migrate to a better spot.

Put it where you would lke it,but remember that anemones will go where they want. The have no problem detaching themselves and moving to a spot they like.

We lucked out we placed our BTA and he stayed put it has never moved from that location. Ours attached itself to a concave section of our tonga rock and stays there it gets plenty of light and lots of flow so I guess it feels content where it is.

And if you have any powerheads, make sure that they are covered, don't want it to be moving over night, or while you are at work and get sucked into it.

thanks for the advice. It looks like the may be trying to move now. I have another question, the guy at the lfs told me that my clown wpuld take to it almost right away. This didnt sound right to me because I have heard before that it can take up to two weeks. He told me if they didnt hook up to scare the clown towards the bta. Does that sound like a bad idea to everyone else or is it just me? So far the clown has stayed far away from the bta.

I'm guessing ocellaris probably. Looks like Nemo? Sorry to tell you this, but there is no guarantee that they will ever host in your BTA. You can try to scare them into it, but I doubt it will work. Check out the clownfish and anemone forum. There are a couple tips on getting them to host there, but still no guarantees.
