Sand! Sand! Sand!
I've been in the "business" for a while now and want to get a DSB instead of my BB. I've heard fine play sand from home depot is ok? i've heard it's not. I would like to just suck it up and spend the money but why do it when i can save and just seed the play sand? Also i have a 55 gal so how deep should my DSB be? i've heard 3-4 inches is good? Thanks for the help

From what I have read and seen posted on here, a dsb is, I believe 5 inches deep or more.
I would think the play sand is Ok as long as it doesn't contain silica. If you go the forum on the first page of this thread marked with a *...there are a few sticky's there on sand beds that might help as well.
