Refugium substate 60lbs
I'm plumbing in a 20L fuge to my established 125g tank. Any suggestions as to what 60lbs of substrate to use that wont cause a much of a cycle? I'm asking for a link to a good deal and a suggested micron size.
I can sustain this tank a week or two without a return to my main tank. ie I have power heads, heater and light. No skimmer! So I guess I can handle a little cycle. |

What do you intend to keep in the refugium? I don't use any substrate in mine.

where do you have the macro algea growing then? You need subtrate to keep macroalgea unless you just use live rock. http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_Aquari...ia__index.html I would either go for the CaribSea or Red Sea subtrates. Get the smallest possible size.Large size tend to collect debrites. And get some sand shifting critters too, that dont feed on macroalgea! |

Chaetomorpha and Caulerpra spp will grow perfectly well without a substrate. Chaetomorpha doesn't attach in any case.
