Need Help With A Bulkhead issue
Ok I bought this overflow basket for my 75 gallon which I am going to drill
I posted it before and people said I would have a problem because it would never be flush with the glass and other issues as well. Well the guy I bought it from is actually a pretty respected guy up here when it comes to SW and reefs. He says that all you need to do is drill the same size hole in the glass as the back of the acrylic overflow. Then simply put one end of the bulkhead inside the overflow and the other outside the glass. Then tighten and thats it. No silicone for the overflow basket or anything. I was a little scared and I trust him but I want to see what you all think. I am using the hayward 1.5" bulkhead and has two rubber seals, one for inside tank and one for outside. Will this really work???

I would drill a hole in the basket for the bulkhead to go through the basket and silicone the basket to the tank to seal it. That way you have a tight bulkhead seal and seal water from entering the basket below the water level.

Extra silicone never hurt anything especially when in doubt...
