Breeding fireworms
I took about 20 small fireworms from my DT and put them in a small rubbermaid container with some sand and LR rubble.
I then got a bunch of LS from another tank and put it in the rubbermaid container. It now has about a 6" sand bed. I want to use this LS for my fuge. What's the best way to keep this sand alive? Should I do water changes? Feed it? Light it? I have a small power head for about 8 hours every day and the temperature is in the 80's. I put some food in there every couple of days. I see a lot of worms on the surface! |

Are you planning on movimg this sand out of the container it is in into your fuge or make the rubbermaid into a fuge? You shouldnt have to light the sand, just put some flow over constantly, but not so much it stirs the sand it and drop some flake into it every week or so.
Once you have it hooked up to your tank, dont feed it anymore, it will feed from your tank waste. |

I plan on moving this sand to a tank, not use the rubbermaid as a fuge... not sure why it makes a difference.
What about water changes? Water doesn't look too clean ATM. |

I'd do some water changes now and then, and feed only very lightly. How big is this container?

Not too big. About 15-20 gallons.

I'd probably add a flake or two of food per day, at most, and a small flake, at that.
