Tunze vs Vortech

I'm looking to upgrade my powerheads. I was looking at the Tunze and the Vortech powerheads. My question to you guys is what should I go with? I want to get 2 pumps and a wave controller. They are around the same price. I like the battery back up feature on the vortechs, but heard some stories of the pumps heating up. I would like to hear your experiences.
TIA
Mike

I think Tunze's battery back-up system is now available for their pumps. I like Tunze because it has a strong history of reliability and longevity.

I've got tunze and vortech. Solid combination.

Tunze's service is 2nd to none, haven't had to use EcoTech's yet.

Tunze also. If you use Vortech on pulse mode it is annoyingly loud

IME, if you use a Vortech its annoying loud regardless of the mode.

The Tunze battery back up is available. You need the 6105.50 Safety connector and any 12v battery. I just hooked my 2 - 6101's and 7095 up last night. I'm hooking up the battery and safety connector tonight. I used a 26 amp hour gel cell battery wich according to Roger should get me 35 - 40 hours run time.

you can't really go wrong with either pump as they are both high quality, it just depends what you want to accomplish
