I have been to openings. They usually don't have a sale. I never buy livestock from chains, only dry foods.

I would be a little leary of buying any livestock from Petsmart. The fish always have ich and are not healthy ( atleast where I live)

no petsmarts carry SW fish but they do have sw products. some stores have tried to carry them but it ended up being like petco so they decided not to carry sw fish. people just dont know what they are doing and the fish always die. the petsmarts where i live are pretty good on keeping the fish healthy and ive never had an ick problem.

I like their SW supplies, usually 30-40% lower than the LFS... for example, I bought some Kent Marine Liquid Calcium and it was $10 at my LFS and only $7 at petsmart.

I dont go to PS. PC are the only ones that sell SW (and there in awfull shape each time i go). BTW dont go to any stores that have birds because the birds could have parrot feaver, and that can get people really sick or even you could die. I have a parrot and did a bunch of research on that.

I've had the same problem everytime I bought fish from PS (evil giant), ICH! Part of the reason I don't go there or any large chain anymore!

go online to look at items print the page from there website showing the price. Take it with you to the store, they will give you the price you show them everytime. You would not believe how much you can save using there website and picking items up in there store. (No shipping)

Yeah I too have bough some supplies there.. salt was about 5 bucks cheaper than the LFS and the additivese are cheaper, at both petsmart and petco (not to mention they are both within 1 mile of my house, compared to the LFS which is 15 miles away).. Of course they are GIANT corporate big box stores so they are going to be cheaper than a mom & pop LFS because they order so much and in such bulk...

Petsmart do carry saltwater, but then again, I am in california (more people in the hobby). Even Petco sells corals, just crappy conditions and super pricey.

I have bought from PM a few times, primarly from their in-line site which is typically not only cheaper but includes free ship over 50. Every few months PC will do a dollar-per-gallon tank sale. I have bought SW fish from one of the two local PCs, as they keep their tanks in good shape, they will try to order what I am looking for, and I pick it up on shipment day and take it home before they acclimate it. BTW, the only time I got ich was two of the three times I bought from the LFS!
