It seems everyone keeps their Alk, Mg, and Cal at higher then NSW levels. I'm wondering if there is anyone that keeps them around NSW levels and what kind of success they are having. For reference here are approximate NSW levels:
Mg: 1300-1500 Alk: 8/2.9 Cal: 400-425 The main reason I ask is because w/ my systems occupants and weekly 10-20% w/c's I can maintain close to these levels w/out dosing anything. TIA for any help. |

Yes, mine are at NSW levels, but that's because I use NSW. I haven't had any problems for the year that I've been going this route.

I think a lot of people keep their tanks higher because the amount of Alk and Calcium used by their tanks is usually pretty high and it kinda gives them a buffer zone especially for Alkalinity. Slightly elevated Alkalinity is better than running a little low.
