I haven't read great things about Odyssea fixtures, but I've never owned one either.

Sorry never heard of it but it does look good... oh small suggestion if i can, find one with T5's, the bulbs will last you almost twice as long and they are not as expensive. just a thought

There is a thread dedicated to this fixture, a lot of what I read says that you need to replaced the ballasts to get good color from your bulbs. I'll try and find the thread.

I've got experience with a few of their fixtures. One (the MH fixture) the ballast went out after about 6 months. Worked great until then. The pc fixtures still working fine, only downside is the quality is poorly manufactured. I've had wiring pull out and loose function on several LED's, then of course the ballast on the MH going out on me, the first PC fixture they sent me had no splash guard and the reflector rusted out after a couple months of use.

The do work but they are definatly sub-par. The 250w MH bulb didn't compare with other 250w fixtures/retrofits I have around the house. Got the job done, but probably not as well as it could've.

Bulbs are completely junk and will need replacment, don't try and use the ones they ship with. They just plain suck.

Now all that negativty said, I kept plenty of sps, lps, various anemones, softies, leathers and all under the various fixtures purchased from oddysea. Corals did okay, no real complaints about that, just the few problems listed above.

If money is a big issue, and you don't mind a little DIY work every once in awhile, they can make for a decent cheap alternative. Just be prepared to swap out bulbs and ballast when it's needed.

I have been happy with my Current USA outer orbit light. You could check something like that out. They have t5's as well which makes a huge difference in my opinion over the pc version.
