Modifying Power Compacts?

I have a Current USA 48" power compact fixture, that is being replaced by halides. I am setting up a new frag tank, and would love to share this old light with the new tank... is there anyway you can take apart this fixture and assemble it in a hood or anything to put over a 30" tank?
