Skimmer doesnt skim this?? (PICS)

Okay firstly, I got a turkey baster and blow my rocks so all this stuff gets suspended and floats around the water... but i dont think my skimmer is even skimming this stuff...
How do i get rid of it? It seems like its just landing back on the rocks....

1. What is this stuff? Is it hair algae???
2. How can i get it out ?
3. If its hair algae, i got 10 hermit crabs working.... should i install a phospate reactor?

edit: Forget about what I said earlier...maybe try adding some more water flow to your tank to keep it from settling on the rocks.

You could possibly need more flow. How long has your tank been set up?

I have that "Dusty" looking stuff too... I baste and baste and figure my sock or the skimmer will get it, but when I baste, it's there again.... Looks like floating tiny dandruff.... Very frustrating.....

a couple of power-heads maybe? though you probably have some and if you do you could angle them to unsettle that stuff.

I get the sort of stuff you're seeing in your tank but it's only in a few small spots where flow is the weakest.

I have a lot more flow than you do and my tank is almost half the size.

I agree with more flow. What you can do instead of the turkey baster is take a syphin tube and clamp it into your filter sock. Then just syphon everything you want out into your sock/sump.

I hate to copy everyone else but you definitely more flow on the rock to keep them clean and keep the junk suspended so that they can be skimmed.

Not only for the above but also to prevent cyano and the like.
