ID Snail & Crab on Soft Coral Please
I found about 7 of these on the bottom of the rock my new clove polyp came on. I am hoping that I got all of them but saw something fall from the rock when I added it to the tank. The second one is a crab the same color as the waving hand polyp. I can't seem to catch it, and it looks like it's eating the polyps. Any suggestions and does anyone know what type of snail and crab they are?

The snail is Stomatella varia, great pic. I don't do crabs, so I'll defer to the authorities on that one.
Cheers, Don |

Yes, they are completely reef safe, and very CUTE, not ugly :P
The shells are really variable, and some of the most spectacularly-patterned of the Mollusca. It's too bad you almost have to have them under magnification to appreciate them. Cheers, Don |
