Acrylic Tank or Glass?
Sadly the search doesnt work right now so I cant find anything on it.
I am researching tanks and wanted to find out which are preferred. I am looking for a tank around 36 x 18 x 22 or, 36 x 18 x $$ (this number is flexible) I have an outer orbit light fixture 36" that I want to keep using. I have been considering glasscages.com but wasnt sure whether to look into glass or acrylic. THANKS GUYS!!

See glass cages on page four, might be on page five soon.

I met a guy in Palo Alto, CA, has an amazing reef wall in his 75 Gal custom Truvu, is 36" wide but it's tall 30"
This tank is just different than most set-ups, just a wall of rock full of life. The guy is so tall he grabbed a frag of kenya tree fron the bottom of the tank, just like that; I would need a snorkel to get that deep into the tank !! |

I recommend Glass.
We recently purchased a 55 gallon Bowfront with, close to the same, dimensions as what you are looking for. I never like the squared corners on glass tanks but the bowfront has rounded corners, similiar to an acrylic tank, except for the back two corners. On an aside, those dimensions you are look for are great for aquascaping!! |

Not to make it a debate, but, our office has an acrylic tank and has had one for 4 years. I was wondering why the water looked a tiny bit cloudy and then realized the acrylic was covered in minute scratches. Not sure what they do for cleaning.
If you get acrylic, be aware that great care must be taken to clean it. Over the years, it would be difficult to keep it pristine. I really like acrylic tanks for many reasons but, nothing like cleaning off my glass tank and not stressing that it is going to get scratched. |

good to know about the acrylics, so far i am now leaning towards glass, I like the curve of acrylic, but I like the realibility and easy to clean of glass.

Well my vote is for glass. I've bumped my glass tank with the rocks over and over as I've been getting them positioned right. I would hate all those scratches I would have made already.
