Red bugs and other pests.
I picked up a few corals this week. All of wich had some type of pest. The worst being Red Bugs.
I dipped the coral in Coral Revive Per the products directions. I used four capfulls of CR per one gallon of tank water. After 5 min, most of the bugs were floating in the water column. After 10 min, all appeared to be dead but I had to blast them with a baster to remove them from the coral. After 15 min, I was unable to find any of the bugs attatched to the coral and all appeared to be dead. I then removed the coral, rinsed in clean tank water and set the coral in the QT tank. Note ... The coral did produce a small amount of mucous so I had to blast the coral with water to keep the slime from protecting the attached bugs from the dip. I should also note that all the beneficial critters in the dip were killed. After dipping the remaining corals I found many critters in the container. Some of wich were Planeria(brown) flat worms, Acole(brown with red dot)flat worms, tiny Bristle stars, tiny snails and a few types of pods. I was also succesfull of ridding my zoanthid collection of nudis with this dip late in 07'. I would like for someone else to try this product and post thier results for comparison. Hope it works for others , Happy Reefing! |
