Frag tank questions
Hi. I'm planning to have a small frag tank in my stand. will be a 15-20 Gallons depending on space. I mostly keep softies few SPS and very few SPS therefore the amount of SPS frag would be very limited. Do you think a couple of fluorescents one marine Ultra white by arcadia and another actinic would be enough? i will have shelves in the tank and higher light demanding corals can be put very close to the surface. I am trying to avoid having to put a MH under the stand which will cause heat issues for the frag tank and refugium. I believe I could install my 75 W MH as it will cause less heat than a 150 MH however I couldn't find marine dedicated bulbs of 75w MH around here. would a non marine dedicated bulb (75w 6500k) be beneficial for higher light demanding corals or not? I could always supplement it with a fluorescent actinic and that would still give a lot less heat than a 150 w MH. Also should i have sand in the frag tank or is it better not to? any other tips or info on frag tank setups would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about the lighting... I have a 150 watt sunpod fixture on my 10 gal frag tank about 10 inches off the water and the temp stays around 80-81* but it isnt enclosed in a stand... I have about 1-2 inches of sand in the bottom of my frag tank.
