Here's my red/multicolored bubble algae,
It's just another variety of valonia. Some people report success with emerald (mithrax) crabs but I'm not one of them. I use a hemostat to grab and remove what I can and appreciate the rest as biodiversity.

It's probably cyanobacteria. I have some in my new tank right now . It's red and makes these little bubbles and starts to grow over them. I've been told to try and add more flow and reduce phosphates. If the mats are think enough you can peel them off the rock or use a turkey baster to suck them up. I'm also going to try and use snails and hermits who are supposed to eat it (don't know how much I believe this, but willing to give it a try).

to get rid of cyano
make sure you have adequate flow across the substrate lightly baste the area with a turkey baster suck up any you can with the basteer do a 20 per cent water change shut the lights off the tank for 3 days

oops my mistake--yes bubble algae is bad because the bubble is a capsule holding a zillion tiny bubble algae spores.
this makes bubble algae very invasive of a tank very quickly You have two choices here actually a third 1 use tweezers and pinch them off without breaking the capsule 2 take the rock out and scrub it thoroughly 3 buy some emerald crabs that "could" eat it I am not a fan of buying inverts etc that are suppose to eat algae--sometimes they do and sometimes they don't
