Lawnmower Blenny & Indigo Dotty?
Hey guys,
Quick question. I have a 1 1/2 inch Indigo Dotty in a 29g. Any problems with a Lawnmower Blenny with it? Compat Chart states caution. From what I've read, the Blenny could bother another fish that resembles it's body shape. Anyone know how closely resembling that needs to be, in general? The dotty was tank bred. Thanks.

I'm a firm believer that eventhough a fish is tank breed it still has it's species characteristics. The Dotty could show agreesion since you have a 29 gal tank. If the blenny was added first then the dotty you might not see the agreession. One thing in your favor is feeding tendencies are different.

I don't have a lawnmower Blenny but I had a bi-color pseudochromis (also known as a dottyback) for awhile. He was one of the first fish in the tank and developed the attitude that the whole tank was his. I finally trapped him and donated him to the LFS because he had driven the other fish into hiding most of the time. I think I would worry more about the Dottyback's aggression more than the Blenny.
