peguin 300 bio wheels
The bio wheels quit spinning and I cleaned all around them does that mean I need new ones? The LFS told they last a year and its only been 6 months.

Yes, remove them but only if you are using enough live rock to give you bio-filtration.

Oops! Not to threadjack - but I think I misinterpreted your advise you guys here gave me earlier.
I have a biowheel filter, and was told that instead of ditching it, use carbon in it. So I removed the FILTERS and threw carbon in... ...So I guess I should remove the WHEELS and LEAVE the carbon bags in the chamber, so I have added flow, and some carbon? |

Do not trow away the wheeel. Pull it out of the filter and clean the wheel by submerging it in a bucket full of water and a cup of bleach over night, rinse well in the moring and let it dry several days and store it in a plastic bag just in case you need it in the future or you happen to want to sell the filter complete. If you have live rock the bio-wheel does not need any replacement or aditional equipment.
