what do 'new born' growing star polyps look like?

I had a rock covered in star polyps, most of them died a few months ago but several remained. I've been dosing some seachem reef plus for the past week and the remaining polyps are doing much better. This same rock is now covered in small white tentacles a bit fuzzy near the base. I was wondering if these are the polyps spreading again and regrowing. I can't seem to find any pics of early stage polyp growth to confirm this..

They have two ways. The most commen is by a matting. It mats out and little white heads pop up. Then they spawn, which there is a great thread in here or reef discussions with pics even. But spawning rare.

GSP coral are pretty harder and can actually become a nusance in time. But the fact they died means something is wrong. At this point i would try and find the reason.

Can you list all specs on the tank from water source , size , age , all equipment used ,amount of LR and LS for better help.

Whatching its growth could help with any flow or lighting issues. They will usually grow the dirrection they perfer.
