How many have gobies dissappear at first

Seems like any goby I add to any tank just disappears and hides in the rock work. I will see them every now and then during feeding, but then its just a head popping out. The most recent is a diamond I added Sunday night, and haven't seen him since. Is this normal or do I just have bad goby luck?

depending on the type of goby. My diamond always come out to sand sift and is never lost for a day.

I got a diamond about a week ago, and all he did for the first 4 days was move sand around. He finally made a home under the biggest rock I have and I haven't seen him since (2 days). I know he's still alive because I can see him from the bottom of the tank (he dug all the way to the bottom), and he moves around when I shine the light at him. I don't think he slept for the first 4 days though, so maybe he is just catching up. He was a blast to watch, so I hope he comes out again soon.

When I got mine he disappeared for 5 days with no trace and I assumed he was a goner. On day 6 he showed up and has been out everyday sifting since.
