question for mag drive owners

i have a mag 12 running as a return on my 90 and the anti vibration pad that came with it does not do much. i was looking for something, other than a few dabs of silicone, to help with the vibration noise. i have heard of people using mouse pads but i didn't know the effects that it could have. i saw some anti slip material at the dollar store that i picked up because i thought it would work great, but i don't know if i can trust that either. it feels like a type of silicone but almost porous they use this stuff for under cutting boards and rugs, they were selling it as a crisper liner. so i was just seeing what others are doing, as i know that i am not the only one that is dealing with this issue.

I have the cure to your Mag pump vibration issues!! I actually stumbled upon this by accident. When I upgraded my tanks, I had to remove the PVC plumbing; I did a temporary plumbing job with some spa-flex, a PVC "Y" fitting from Marine Depot.

The spa-flex hose is rigid enough to suspend the Mag pump so that it is not touching any surfaces inside the sump.

In this next picture, you can see how the pump is suspended. I raised it a bit in order to take this picture. Right now, it's only about 1 inch from the bottom.

Since form follows function, I have decided to leave the plumbing how it is. There is a nice quiet ambiance around a fish tank that isn't humming all the time!!

Mine is also attached to flexible tubing for the return.

I also cut a couple of short sections of that tubing and put it under the pump. that isolated it from the glass. I never hear mine!
