2 questions
Ok the first is the main question I'm wanting answered.. I've seen some posts explaining the significance of a DSB and that it's more than just a bunch of sand... so is there a site or someone that knows how to set up a DSB and what I need/don't need... thoughts and suggestions appreciated...
Second, I am trying to figure out what something was at my LFS. It wasn't labeled and no one at the store knew what it was. Basically it looked like a snail that didn't have a shell but on the middle of the back was a small yellow looking flower/tentacles thing... I know it's not much of a description but it was on the glass and hard to see the rest of the body... It was a little smaller than the size of a dime, the underside was white just like a snail and the top of him I think had a slight pinkish color... again he was on the front glass and I really couldnt get that great of a look and I couldn't get a pic at all w/ my phone.. Anyway, the ID is not 100% important, I was just curious b/c I hadn't seen anything like that b4.. It seemed to be part of the CUC in the tank but I haven't been able to find anything online that looks remotely like it.

DSB needs to be at least 4 inches deep and relatively fine argonite should be used. Many recommend using a remote dsb in a buckett or a bin separate from the display through which you pass clean(skimmed) water. This bed can be kept in the dark to avoid algae growth. In a display tank a dsb can be problematic over time since it will collect dssolved organic matter. Sufficient live rock will obviate the need for an in display dsb. If you wan't a beachy look sugar fine oolicitic sand about an inchan inc and a half deep works nicely and can bd puffed up occasionaly to keeehe appendages on it's back are it's external gills. Most nudranch are obligate feeders on coral or sponges and will not survive very long in captivity without a specialized environment.
