aussie acan lighting and feeding ?
aussie acan lighting and feeding ?
I have 2 aussie acans 1 is red with mint stripes and has big heads on it and I see tenticals on it during the day and night and this one will eat when I target feed. The other has small heads and is blue with a red center I have only seen tenticals on it once feed it some cycopleeze. I had them lower in the tank but the blue one was faced up the red was down and sideways. I now change them with each other so the blue one is sideways trying to perk it up. This is a 12 gallon 70 watt hqi. Is it normal to not have the tenticals come out or was the light too much for it just trying to get some ideas. |

You could keep them on the bottom of the tank and they would be just fine. Mine lose alot of color and don't open up nearly as much if they're higher up in the tank. They don't really need all that much flow either, just enough to keep some food flowing their way. As far as feeding goes, they should be all opened up and ready to feed about 30mins after the lights go out from my experience.

the lights went out just about 30 min ago and I just target feed.
The red ones feed no problem but the blue ones have not even showed the tenticals to feed. I hope by switching them places it will help maybe Im worried about nothing. Or should all acans show there tenticals at night. |
