Starting New, need advice
I'm planning on starting my first saltwater tank in the next few weeks, and I'm wanting to start somewhat small, and somewhat cheap (at least cheap for a saltwater tank... under $1000)
I'd like the tank to be 18 inches front to back and between 50-90 gallons. I plan on having a refugium so the tank would have to be reef ready with an overflow or I'd have to drill it myself. Also, I'd like to use MH lighting and would like to be able to get away with just one light so the tank can't have a center brace. I'd like to spend the bulk of my budgeted money on a good skimmer, good lighting, powerheads, etc, so I'm curius if you guys know where I would be able to find the best deal on a tank. The LFS's around me don't sell 50G, 65G, 75G, or 90G tanks with the 18 in. front to back dimention I'm looking for and won't order one for me. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it. |

To Reef Central CraigsList is often a good place for bargains, and any local aquarium club in your area might have a forum, too.

Try ebay for supplies
Bought an overflow, odyssea skimmer, uv sterilizer and mh there for 200.00 all together ( These were all brand new in unopened boxes). For a 90 gallon I am setting up. Can't say where to get the tank because I go it from a friend that was moving. The sump I found on the street. I know petco has the same tank and stand I own for about 500.00. You did not mention what kind of filter your going to run. Try ebay is my vote.
