got new tank best way to switch
I got a 220 reef ready and a 75g sump everything is in a 125 with a 55 sump now. The water in the 125 is not ro/di. Should i just start over and use the ro/di water and wait for it to cycle or should i use 125 water and add ro/di to the new setup. I have fish Long Tentacle Anemone and 120# live rock i will be using new sand as well.

my suggestion would be the check your water parameters in the 125. If they are good (particularly around phosphates etc) then use the water. Do you have an algae problem in the 125? If not, then the H2O is probably fine. IMHO whatever is in the water in the 125 will be in the rock in the 125, and this transferred to the 20 anyway assuming you are re-using the rock.

If adding a lot of new live rock then let it cure and cycle in the new tank first. Also use new sand with a few cups of old sand to help seed it. Move as much of the old water as possible before you stir up your sand bed, don't use any of the water after you get it all cloudy from the old sand bed.
Move your existing rock and livestock over. Watch the levels and water change as needed, you should be fine. |

I dont have any major problems with alge just no coral line and some brown as far as my sand i have crushed coral now but going to sand i have sand in my refugium. I will be using my live rock for my old tank. I will go check my phosphates right now and get back with ya. Honstly i hadnt been doing water changes and thing like i should have been last time i checked the amonia and stuff it was in good shape.
